Frozen Charlottes are the popular name for 19th century china dolls with fixed arms. Bigger, more expensive dolls had porcelain heads and limbs on kid leather bodies, but there was always a place for a cheap little doll that a girl could slip into her pocket. Of course, these were little knock-about things, and often the little arms or legs got broken off.
